Seeding Index

The purpose of the Seeding Index is to provide a relative strength order of teams to create balanced pools for tournament competition. In Chesapeake Region Junior Girls volleyball tournaments, teams are "snake seeded" across the pools of a tournament using this Seeding Index.
The Seeding Index is based on each teams performance (set win %) and the strength of their opponents (opponents set win %). The seeding index value for each team provides a quantitative team performance metric that can be used for seeding purposes. The larger the seeding index value, the higher the team is seeded. Forfeits and sets with teams "playing up" or out of Region are not counted. No Seeding Index is calculated until a team has twelve countable sets. Tournament coordinators use their best judgment to seed teams that do not have a seeding index value. More information about the Seeding Index is available below by clicking the "Seeding Index Description" button.
